Worship Ministries

Our Mission

At First Baptist Church of Tempe, our Worship and Arts Ministries exist to help people encounter God and worship Him together in unity. We're a multi-generational church, so we choose songs that speak to the hearts of every age group—blending the old and the new to reflect the diversity of our church family.

Our worship services follow a thoughtful, Scripture-based flow that helps guide our hearts and minds toward Christ. Every song we sing is carefully chosen to make sure it’s rooted in solid, Biblical truth, and clearly points to Jesus.

One of our primary goals is for everyone to join in—whether singing in the congregation or serving on a team. We’re passionate about raising up worship leaders and musicians of all ages who love Jesus, serve with humility, and use their gifts to lead others well.

Worship Choir

  • Leads a worship anthem during the 9:30 AM & 11:00 AM services on the first and third Sundays of the month.

  • Open to ages 11 and up. No audition required.

  • Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 6:30–8:00 PM in the choir room.

  • Childcare available for infants through elementary-age children upon request and reservation.

  • Additional activities include seasonal retreats and participation in musicals and community events.

 

Worship Teams

  • Serve weekly during Sunday services. Vocalists harmonize in two-part arrangements that align with our music selections.

  • Rehearsals: Thursdays, 6:00pm-6:45pm

Worship Band & Orchestra

  • Plays during the 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM services (excluding 5th Sundays), and contributes to church musicals and seasonal worship events.

  • Open to those aged 13 and older with at least 2 years of experience. Auditions are required.

Student Worship Team

  • Jr High and High School vocalists and instrumentalists receive training and gain experience leading worship for the congregation on the 5th Sundays of the month.

  • Rehearsals: Wednesdays at 5:30 PM during the school year.

Drama Ministry

  • Conveys scriptural truths through visual storytelling: from short skits to full-length presentations.

  • Creative expressions welcome! Roles include acting and stagecraft.

Technical Team

  • Operates video, sound, lighting, graphics, and multimedia during worship services.

  • Responsible for all technical setup and execution.
